How do you encompass a full day of joy and laughter and love in one tiny, little blog post? I have no idea, but I aim to try.

I met Zach and Rainier last year, a referral from Honey Farm, and felt like we connected immediately. Rainier is the kind of woman that young girls can look up to as an example of how to comport yourself in kindness, thoughtfulness, and joy. Many obstacles in life served only to encourage her growth into this mature and thoughtful young woman that any mother would be proud of and that many women in her life that celebrated with her were! Zach is a quiet gentle ex-marine, whose friendships stood out to me. Those guys love him. Of course, as normal, it came in the form of much teasing and boisterous joking that so many men love to revel in. Getting married is scary, fun, and extremely taxing, but these two had a great team and everything went off without a hitch! Their love showed in every little detail, from their metal name decoration that Zach created with his welding skills, to the hairdresser being a dear and close friend.

The honey farm  is a fairly new venue down in Springboro that has an absolutely gorgeous bridal suite perfectly decorated and lit for the bride as well as an updated silo “man cave”/bar area that gives the men a comfortable place to get ready as well. Nothing has been overlooked. It’s a dreamy place if you’re a light hound, which I am.  Anyhow, onward! Enjoy your glimpse into this precious day!

I always thought that as a photographer, my posts should ALWAYS contain references to recent sessions, sticking only to my client base, however, it hit me last week as I was in Siesta Key, Florida for a destination wedding, that some of you may be just as interested in my traveling escapades. As some of you may or may not know, I love to travel. It’s not that I don’t love my home base in Dayton, Ohio, but my sweet, wild, gypsy hearted dad instilled a love in my heart to discover- not just to have questions, but to find ANSWERS to those questions. Where are the prettiest mountains? Where do I feel most happy and at home? Where in the world can I go today that I haven’t been before?! Because of that, I have been to MOST of the 50 states, traveled Europe, and in the past few years went to Haiti on a mission trip, Ireland to celebrate my sister’s butt kicking of cancer, and Jamaica to shoot a wedding. So I invite you to travel with me. To discover, dream, and hope, and maybe get a few good pictures while I’m there. This past week I visited a section of Florida that I hadn’t been to before, Siesta Key, and was totally enchanted by the tropical landscape, the crazy wildlife, and the beautiful beaches.  It was interesting, after living in the Destin area for so long, to see how very different and vast Florida can be from one place to the next. The beach in Siesta Key was a beautiful, white, incredibly cool and soft sand, however, just an hour south where we were staying in Englewood, it was a more coarse sand that consisted mainly of broken shells and shark teeth. I didn’t get a good sunset shot as the storm was brewing off in the gulf, but managed to get a few cool storm images.  I hope you enjoy, and I hope you follow along with me as I share with you my passion for photography, people, and places!  There are a few different times of day when we photographers get all excited about light.  If you notice, light changes color, or Kelvin temperature, as the sunlight shifts from east to west through the day.  In the first hours of morning and the last hour and a half in the evening, as the sun hits the horizon, the sun is a soft golden light, that produces even, gentle shadows and highlights.  This is a higher kelvin temperature, around 6500-8000 or so, which is a warmer tone. After the sun has set, or on stormy cloudy days, we get what we call blue light, which is a lower, cooler Kelvin, which is in the 2500-3500 or so range. Try to guess what color is in these stormy clouds! LOL
